Powerful Questions for Leaders, no. 45

What would happen if you were bold in the face of organizational risk?

We’re all closely watching the economy these days. With just the threat of a recession, many companies have started to lay off their employees. The mental model here is to batten down the hatches, wait out the storm and hope that you can come out on the other side still hanging on to at least the most important parts of your organization.

But what if there was a better way? What would happen if you doubled down on truly knowing and serving your customers? What if, instead of letting key staff go now in the hope of balancing out the potential decrease in sales, you instead put all of your energy and skills into building the best product the market has ever seen? A product so awesome that your customers will find a way to buy it even when their own wallets are looking thin?

What would it take for you to stand up for your staff, to trust yours and their talents, and to simply blow the competition out of the water?
