Life after tech: because we deserve better

I delivered an abridged version of my signature Career Nirvana program at CodeMash at Kalahari in Sandusky, Ohio last week. This version was tailored specifically for employees in the technology field.

The tech industry is imploding. More and more of us are competing for fewer and fewer jobs, jobs that are less lucrative, more boring, more stressful, and even more toxic. On top of all of this, jobs that once permitted us to contribute something positive to the world now routinely ask us to ignore our moral compass. It’s time we all take a hard look at the work we are doing, how it’s serving us and our communities, and decide what we’d like to be doing instead.

Attendees explored their interests, what their communities need, and the “survivability” of their desired fields. They left with concrete plans aimed at transitioning to more rewarding positions in thriving industries.

Attendee comments:

Good deep dive into changing out of an increasingly hellish tech industry, both in terms of chasing your dreams and finding what actually pays the bills.

Thank you for an engaging and thoughtful session. The exercises were helpful (and sometimes challenging!) for us to understand our skills and interests, leading us toward the post-tech careers that might be a good fit for us. The inspirational stories of others who have transitioned to rewarding new careers helps build our confidence that we can do that, too.

If you have had enough of the daily grind and are ready to explore a career transition, I invite you to join the wait list for my next Career Nirvana cohort.
