The supervisors and team leads at Advanced Fiber Technology in Bucyrus, Ohio braved the arctic snow and cold with me last week for a custom version of my Leadership Bootcamp, and boy did we have fun!
From Modern Leadership and Emotional Intelligence to Conflict Resolution, Employee Motivation and more, we covered a wide range of topics crucial to the success of new and emerging leaders and their organizations.
Running this program as a custom, in-house offering gave us the opportunity to tailor it to these leaders’ unique needs. We discussed real-world scenarios that they all had first-hand experience with and even did a little problem solving on current issues.
In one example, we pulled their senior leader in to make a plan for a bi-weekly leadership retrospective designed to surface problems, increase the odds of resolution, and celebrate wins. The first one is next Monday and I can’t wait to hear how it goes!
At the outset, these guys were a little apprehensive about spending two days sitting in a classroom, but they quickly admitted they were pleasantly surprised by the interactive and engaging nature of the program.
I enjoyed learning about their day-to-day work out on the line. It was clear early on that these leaders cared a great deal about the quality of their work and the health and well-being of their team members. They thoughtfully considered the new ideas we learned alongside their knowledge of their product, manufacturing processes, and people to create the best possible outcomes for the company and their team members.
Our world continues to move rapidly and relentlessly toward a tech-enabled VUCA future. As a result, our leaders need new ways to motivate employees, solve complex problems, and quickly adapt to change. The leaders at Advanced Fiber Technology are preparing for this new world of work. What are you doing to ensure that you and your staff will be ready?
