Some mornings, when the alarm on our phone chimes and it’s still dark outside, when the house is quiet, and the whole day stretches before us, well, honestly, things can look kinda grim. Jobs, international matters, the cost of living, politics, you know, all the things, they start rolling through your brain. It’s enough to make you want to curl back up and pull the covers over your head.
Don’t know about the future, that’s anybody’s guess.
Ain’t no good reason for getting all depressed.
But today, like all other days, the sun will definitely come up. It might not shine (if you’re in the wintery gray and cloudy midwest like me), but it will definitely rise. And people of all stripes will get out of bed, get ready for the day, and do their part to make their corner of the world a better place.
Fire up your pad and pencil, I’ll give you a piece of my mind,
In my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine.
And, really, isn’t this all we can ask for? A community where we each do our part, day in and day out, to celebrate each other, to lift each other up, and to leave things better than we found them?
I don’t know about you, but I try hard (admittedly I don’t always succeed, but I keep trying) to see the best in those around me, to find their inner magic, and to be grateful for their contributions to my life. Goodness knows we can’t make it alone in this world, we need each other, now more than ever, to find connectedness, completion, and contentment.
Stop all your fussin’,
Slap on a smile
Come out and walk in the sun for awhile.
So while social media continues to bombard us with bad news and harsh realities, I choose to focus on the things I can impact, where I can make a difference for myself, my family, and those around me. Maybe I am naive, but I really do believe that if we all spent a little more of our effort making small changes in our local environments, we could squeeze out more of the bad in our society, replacing it with the good we create.
Don’t fight the feeling, you know you want to have a good time.
And in my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine.
So who’s with me? What are you doing to bring a little sunshine into the lives of those around you? What will you try next? And when will you start? Because we really do need each other … and a little more sunshine … to have a good time.
