Tired of the Corporate BS in the Tech Industry? Refactor Your Job.

I’m trying something new with my Career Nirvana program in the coming months and I’d love to have you join me for the experiment.

If you’re a tech worker who’s been laid off, is struggling to find your next corporate home, or you’re still working but you’re just exhausted by the constant corporate noise and instability, I want you in my next cohort.

In this series, we’re going to focus on small business ownership.

For decades now, we’ve been sending our best talent away from our small cities and rural communities to vie for tech jobs in the big cities. The reasoning was that this is where the money was. But in the process, we created a self-fulfilling prophecy through which we hollowed out our smaller communities and drove up the cost of living in the big cities. We left our hometowns devoid of the work, services, and people necessary to create thriving and vibrant places to live and made the big city dream unattainable for all but the most successful tech workers.

The tide might be turning now, though. As the large, shiny office buildings spit out their workers in favor of AI bots and extractive business models, more and more of us are finding that the things that drew us away from our hometowns and into the big cities are no longer there.

What if we decided to reject the corporate BS and, instead, doubled down on reinvesting in our small cities, and rural communities? What if we packed up all the skills we gained in those tech roles and brought them home where we could revitalize our neighborhoods with small businesses that provide desperately needed services and products to our friends and neighbors?

If you’re ready for something entirely different, something where you can find stability and resilience, pride and purpose, and most of all a living wage, I hope you’ll add your name to the wait list for the next offering of Career Nirvana Refactor Your Job.
