Agile in the Rustbelt: My upcoming Talk at Data Days Cleveland

I had so much fun as an attendee at Data Days Cleveland last year that this year I decided to throw my hat in the ring as a presenter — and they accepted my talk!

I’ll be sharing my experiences applying agile techniques in the nonprofit and public sectors to help executive directors and senior leaders improve community outcomes in my hometown.

My talk is called “Agile in the Rustbelt: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty in One Small Midwestern Community,” and kicks off at 3:30 pm on October 15th.

Data Days is certainly one of the most interesting and inspiring conferences I’ve attended in the last couple of years. It’s focused on “civic technology and open data in the community” and the attendees, presenters, and organizers all bring such passion to their work and areas of expertise. I found everyone I met to be friendly, helpful, and caring. It’s refreshing to be in the same place with so many people who are doing good in their neighborhoods.

Oh, and the venue is amazing, too! The Cleveland Public Library’s main branch downtown is an architectural marvel, worth a tour in it’s own right. On top of that, the views from the top floor (of downtown and the lake beyond) are expansive and there is almost always an exhibit or two on display. Last year the Superman exhibit was phenomenal!

At just $50, the registration fee is ridiculously affordable for the value this conference provides. I hope to see you there!
